רות שרייבר | Ruth Shreiber
London, 1947, lives and creates in Jerusalem
In her work 'Aguna', she combined a heavy clay chain placed on a headless neck, and a painting using the technique of watercolor and charcoal, in which the figure of a woman, revealed to us from the back, is also forbidden in chains, with on both sides the words of a verse that is said at the time of the canopy, with words of bad love and brotherhood. In this way, the work emphasizes the sharp contrast between the hope for a benevolent relationship at the time of marriage and being a shackled woman bound and devoid of freedom.
